Repeated threats to cut aid signal a return to fear-mongering tactics to support conservative factions in El Salvador

House Members called on the State Department to publicly adopt a position of neutrality.

In recent months, El Salvador’s right-wing has been busy exercising their control over the media to manipulate threats from the Trump Administration, the U.S. Ambassador and Senator Marco Rubio to cut aid towards El Salvador as a way to smear the current FMLN government and impact voter turn out in support of the FMLN. Salvadorans deserve the opportunity to elect the candidate they believe is the most capable and most committed to their needs, not based on fear of retaliation from politicians in the US.
