With less than two months remaining before Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for El Salvador expires on September 9, pressure is mounting on the Trump administration to renew the immigration protection that has shielded approximately 200,000 Salvadorans in the United States for the past 25 years. Dozens of members of Congress warn that ending TPS would mean sending thousands of people back to a country where the state itself has been accused of committing serious human rights abuses.
