CISPES is be sending the following three delegations to El Salvador in 2012. Click here to download the flyer for all three delegations.
March 3-17, 2012: Elections Observation Delegation.
El Salvador will hold Legislative and Municipal Elections on March 11, 2012. The process thus far has been marked by several controversial court decisions that favor the right-wing, including the introduction of independent candidates. International observers will play a critical role in monitoring this important election, the first after the FMLN victory in 2009.
Late April to early May 2012: Medical Brigade.
The Ministry of Public Health has formed over 400 community health teams to provide in-home preventative and comprehensive health care in rural areas that previously had little to no access to health care, but they are in urgent need of personnel and supplies!
June 23 – July 15, 2012: Literacy Brigade.
The Ministry of Education has an incredible goal of eliminating illiteracy in El Salvador! While they have made great strides with the help of 8,000 volunteers, they are calling for international participation, especially from the Salvadoran community in the US, to support this “program of love and solidarity.”
