Adalberto is currently organizing youth art collectives in San Salvador with El Salvador’s progressive FMLN party – an organizing project supported by CISPES! – and knocking on doors to get out the youth vote for the midterm elections this March. He will discuss:

• What’s at stake in the 1st elections since the 2009 victory of the first left gov’t
• How YOU can be part of El Salvador’s transformation!

About Adalberto Elias:
Adalberto grew up and currently lives in El Paraíso, a community repopulated by ex-guerrilla combatants in the capital city, San Salvador. Last year in the internal elections of the leftist Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front party (FMLN), he was elected to San Salvador’s municipal FMLN coordinating board and to be the Municipal Youth Coordinator. In addition to organizing the city’s young people by forming theater, drum-crew, and silk-screening collectives, and organizing FMLN youth brigades doing relief work in response to the recent tropical storm disaster, Adalberto and his fellow FMLN youth across the country are actively taking to the streets in door-to-door campaigns to bring out the youth vote in the country’s legislative and municipal elections in March 2012.
