Virtual Delegation: Salvadoran Youth Organizing in the New Era of Struggle

November 8, 2011.

If you weren’t able to hear from the Salvadoran youth leaders touring the US this month – we’ve got another chance for you!

CISPES invites you to join our first virtual delegation with Adalberto Elias, San Salvador’s FMLN Municipal Youth Coordinator (he’s got the white star on his shirt)!

Tuesday, November 15

At two convenient times: 7pm EST/4pm PST & 10pm EST/7pm PST

Location: Online at ► http://www.justin.tv/cispes/ or watch below

Watch live video from CISPES on www.justin.tv

Adalberto is currently organizing youth art collectives in San Salvador with El Salvador’s progressive FMLN party – an organizing project supported by CISPES! – and knocking on doors to get out the youth vote for the midterm elections this March. He will discuss:

  • How youth are stepping up to win justice & dignity for all Salvadorans
  • What’s at stake in the 1st elections since the 2009 victory of the first left gov’t
  • How YOU can be part of El Salvador’s transformation!

It’s easy to join this delegation! Just click on or paste this URL (http://www.justin.tv/cispes/) into the browser of your computer to hear a live, bilingual presentation from Adalberto. Be sure your computer has speakers or wear headphones to tune in! You can even send questions for Adalberto before or during his presentation, just email your question to questions@cispes.org.

We hope you can join us for our first virtual delegation – one of many more to come!

About Adalberto Elias:
Adalberto grew up and currently lives in El Paraíso, a community repopulated by ex-guerrilla combatants in the capital city, San Salvador. Last year in the internal elections of the leftist Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front party (FMLN), he was elected to San Salvador’s municipal FMLN coordinating board and to be the Municipal Youth Coordinator. In addition to organizing the city’s young people by forming theater, drum-crew, and silk-screening collectives, and organizing FMLN youth brigades doing relief work in response to the recent tropical storm disaster, Adalberto and his fellow FMLN youth across the country are actively taking to the streets in door-to-door campaigns to bring out the youth vote in the country’s legislative and municipal elections in March 2012.
